Great place to spend your summer days..... and nights if camping is what you're looking for. Nice, clean, affordable RV and tent sites located all around the lake. The beaches are well maintained and usually not over crowded. The restrooms are clean and most recreation areas offer water stations for rinsing off the sand at the end of your day. Fishing is a must! Lake Wappapello is perfect for fishing from the banks or finding the perfect cove or inlet to anchor the boat and reel in your catch. Great mini vacation destination!

Very quiet park. Campsites were spread out and roomy. We didn’t have water hookups but our tank on our camper served us well. Enjoyed the changing trees and relaxing stay.

Beautiful park. Did not see or meet any park rangers. You check into your campsite with your cell phone. Cell phone service can be spotty in the park. You need a map from your phone to find your campsite. For instance there are two site 11s. You must know your area or street name to find your site. The camp sites are awesome. And, as other reviews mention the hills here are very very steep. I would stay here again. We really enjoyed it.

Rolling into this campground is like a rollercoaster ride, kinda fun really. We stayed at site 53 in Ridge Campground. The picture on the website is off quite a bit. There aren't very many level sites here, and most are on an incline or sloped. Other than the family sites, they are spaced apart nicely, for the most part. The campground hosts and rangers are super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. There is a play yard up by the bathrooms and a laundry facility. There are 2 washers (only one was working) that costs $1.50/load, and 2 dryers that cost $1/load. Although it is a beautiful area, I would not stay here again with a 30ft travel trailer. It is very suitable for tents and smaller campers. They also have numerous cabins that looked very nice and decent walking trails. We did not stay at Asher Creek campground, but we did walk around it. There are 2 11° grade hills in and out..if you like that sort of thing when towing. It is right on the lake, beautiful views.

This park hands down was the cleanest park ever! I have crossed this country camping in state parks since I was a kid, first with my parents, then with my own kids and now with my husband as empty nesters. We were very surprised at the cleanliness. Bathrooms were spotless! Host and dog were super friendly and helpful. Lake was beautiful as well!

First location is beautiful and very quiet. Awesome camp host. If you are tent camping, van or pop up you are golden. In an RV things you should know. The hills just getting into place are no joke! 11% grade easy. There are two of them in a row. Roads are narrow and curvy. The sites are horribly unleveled. They are good size but so unleveled not much is usable for camper. I recommend Asher flat campground for RV they looked better. But forwarded it means another steep hill to get to it.
As much as we like the area we would not stay again with our camper.
