My husband and I and our 20 year old son spent four nights at the Lodge in late June 2024 (Sunday through Wednesday nights). It was a great time to be there as weekdays in June aren't busy at the Lodge. We had reserved the Sunset Suite in the main lodge building, but Mike and Bonnie recommended we consider one of the cottages. We took their advice and upgraded to the Waterfront Chalet 1. It was wonderful - plenty of room for the three of us and a covered back patio that allowed us to read and look out onto the lake (even when it was raining). As everyone has said in previous reviews, Mike and Bonnie make you feel at home from the minute you step onto the property. Wonderful homemade breakfasts and just an overall relaxing time. Property is very well kept up - both inside and out. We highly recommend this lodge if you are visiting the Monticello, IN area.

My wife and I spent one night at the Lodge and cannot wait to go back. The owners, Mike and Bonnie, are wonderful hosts and make you feel at home. Everything about this place is great. The rooms, grounds, the views, breakfast, cleanliness, the cottages are first class. We will definitely go back, and perhaps organize a Family Reunion at this beautiful place.

Good place to have a large gathering such as a family reunion or retreat. The rooms/cabins are dated but clean. Shower/bath amenities are limited. Cabins have cooking areas but no dishwasher which is annoying. You do get a lot of value for the rates charged but not sure there is much to do after a couple days if you don't have a boat.

This was an amazing experience. We went for four days to leisurely celebrate our anniversary. Lake Shafer is beautiful. The B&B was immaculate, the lake view amazing and the service was outstanding. The breakfast each morning was beyond restaurant quality (make sure to request the pecan pancakes) and the owners were incredibly accommodating and personable. We recommend considering going just before or after peak season (Memorial Day and Labor Day). The rates are very reasonable and this last week we had the B&B to ourselves. 10/10!

Bonnie and Mike provide a friendly family atmosphere, and all of their staff are very helpful and make you feel welcome. Location is great and the lake provides a lot of options to boat, fish or just sit and get away and relax.

I enjoyed a beautiful weekend in August with our hosts, Bonnie & Mike. The food was delicious, and thanks to Mike, the Pontoon rides were awesome! Wow!

We had the most wonderful time!! Mike and Bonnie are the best hosts!! Bonnie made the most delicious breakfast for us each morning. The grounds are perfectly manicured. The room was spacious and very clean, the bed was extremely comfortable and the bath tub in the honeymoon suite was huge!! We were treated like VIPs. We can’t wait to go back again!!
